I know how to cry in the dark,
when the sun goes down,
As the time passes my waterfall keeps crashing with the sun showing out,
I tried to descend up to it alone
And now that I set a fire,
All I feel is the edge of a cliff where you reside,
Maybe I was meant to share this space,
Your words brought a glistening golden hour
And my sun got lost in another country
Across borders I placed my smile on a foreign translation,
Our presence is sympatico terrain
A complimented poem written in the rocks we held,
We skipped them on the water,
I felt a transition, the absence of waves
I heard a tune in our sky that was mine to write,
I shared the chorus,
Can you hold my sprechstimme enunciation when the bass tides run low?
Here is my association
The first verse was a homage to the past ad libitum bay,
The chorus a repeat of a beautiful addante,
And the words of the last verse are infinitely yours,
I like to float to your time,
And the waters rhythm you memorized puts me to sleep,
We don’t like to swim
I’ve always floated on moments,
Because your presence turns the air into a warm blanket,
I wish these voices that sing along were never ours,
Repentance is vulnerability, acceptance of a new found humanness
Forgiveness is ours to extend but not to define,
And the pain of knowing nothing and something is a cross into fervent love,
bestowed upon us all the same way,
With each breath we take for another human’s hope,
And when you didn’t fit the pattern, I fell so hard that I knocked the air out of us both,
And now all I do is write hoping that we’ll be okay because neither of us were ever a crime,
Never the lies they said.
